At the technology summit, International Business Machines' David Cox presented a compelling case for transparent advancement in corporate artificial intelligence. The executive, Vice President of artificial intelligence systems and leader at the joint MIT and IBM artificial intelligence laboratory, stressed the significance of transparency in tech progress, especially in the present artificial intelligence ecosystem.
The IBM executive pointed out the complex nature of openness in AI, challenging the two-dimensional understanding of the idea. He noted the expanding ecosystem of open models from various sources, including industry leaders, research centers, and countries.
Nevertheless, he expressed reservations about the standard of transparency in many Large Language Models, pointing out that a number of them offer barely more than a "bag of numbers" without openness in their development processes.
